Educo Adventure School is a registered non-profit organization that has been providing both Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal youth with leadership education through wilderness adventures since 1970.
All Educo courses are dedicated to the development and support of young people to draw forth their full and unique potential.

Rediscovery International
Rediscovery was born twenty-five years ago on the remote shores of the Queen Charlotte Islands (Haida Gwaii), British Columbia. The camp seeks to teach youths about a renewed sense of contact with the land and heritage around them. Wilderness activities, blended with native culture, served to develop and strengthen feelings of confidence and self-worth for native and non-native participants alike. Since they were integrated in a tolerant and respectful community, participants were free to learn from each other, the environment, Elders, guides and from themselves.
News of the success on Haida Gwaii spread quickly and there are some twenty-one Rediscovery camps in B.C., with other camps across Canada (including Alberta, the Northwest Territories and the Yukon) as well in the United States and Thailand.

First Nations Sponsorships to attend Educo Adventure School in summer of ‘07
Sponsored 8 youth from 3 different First Nations throughout BC to attend a non-profit wilderness youth leadership camp.
Awarded a grant to Haida Gwaii for starting outdoor youth and healing camp.
Sea Breeze Power contributed over $8500 dollars to another BC First Nation starting-up their own outdoor youth and healing camp.
Vancouver Island Regional Library Sponsorship for New Childhood Literacy Kits
The company sponsored the creation of 12 Early Childhood Literacy Kits for Port Hardy’s public library.
About Early Childhood Literacy Kits
Children’s services and literacy issues are a high priority for the Vancouver Island Regional Library library (VIRL). Research has shown that language skills and oral interaction at a young age increases a child’s success later in life and that these skills are developed even before a child starts reading on her/his own. As such, pre-reading skills are a focus of the library’s early literacy programs and most recently, VIRL has introduced a new early literacy resource – literacy kits.
Pre-school literacy kits will focus on topics such as music, pets, seasons, nature, the zoo, the circus, friends, emotions, time, transportation, toys, fairy tales, celebrations, and the weather. Each kit will also contain instructions for literacy related activities for each age group. These kits will be appropriate for one-on-one sharing as well as in group (such as daycares) situations.
VIRL was looking to promote early literacy in various communities on Vancouver Island and was extremely pleased when Sea Breeze approached them looking for a way to sponsor literacy efforts in Port Hardy. [Back to top]
