We are doing our part in the changing face of the BC power sector by taking advantage of advancements in renewable-energy technology, deregulation and shifting public opinion. We view any shift towards renewable energy as a positive contribution to both a sustainable economy and environment.
The growing demand for clean, green power is a fundamental driver in our mission. Our projects offer long-term, cost-effective, reliable energy solutions that will have low environmental impact and no greenhouse gas emissions, and will stand as a model of how sustainable energy generation can succeed.
The Sea Breeze Advantage
Sea Breeze is a leader in the renewable energy industry. British Columbia is recognized as having a vast potential for wind energy and run-of-river hydroelectricity development. Sea Breeze currently has investigative permits covering 227,000 hectares for wind energy development.
As developer and proponent of the 99 MW Cape Scott Wind Farm on Vancouver Island (now owned by GDF-Suez Canada), Sea Breeze became the first renewable energy developer in British Columbia to receive an Environmental Assessment Certificate for a wind farm.
The Juan de Fuca Cable is a 550 MW electricity transmission project that has been approved by both Canadian and U.S. federal authorities, with the Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) issued by the Canadian National Energy Board and other lesser permits currently undergoing renewal. It utilizes state-of-the-art High Voltage Direct Current ("HVDC") Light® technology. Unlike traditional AC lines, HVDC Light® cable can be easily buried underground, has no fluctuating EMFs and has a low environmental impact.
Sea Breeze has developed substantial in-house capabilities in meteorology, project siting and project permitting. We have experienced and committed members on our Board, and our management team and staff have established an excellent reputation for effective project management.
